I watched the new Netflix adaptation of Persuasion today. Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors and this is one of her best novels. It's difficult to pare it down to under two hours, and with that in mind, I think they did well.
It got me thinking...
Anne managed a broken heart for 8 years. Eight. She was told to forget Wentworth but did not. They meet again and hide from one another the fact that they've both held onto hope, even though she broke them apart. In the end, though not without trials and hardship, they end up together.
I'm at one year. In my case, I do not believe he will return. And yet... maybe he, too, was the victim of persuasion. Maybe he regrets it. Maybe eight years will pass in silence before the truth comes out. Maybe he truly did love me, though all his actions in the end seemed otherwise.
Hope really is a terrible sort of thing.
Do not call me "little fox" or "kitten." You haven't earned the right.
Do not befriend me if you intend to leave.
Do not ask for my help when you did not offer yours.
Do not use others as an excuse for your cruel decisions.
Do not apologize if you're not truly sorry.
Do not assume the worst if you haven't seen the best.
Do not think I'm durable because I have hard edges.
Do not request my personal information. I'll give it to you if and when I choose.

Those are very good rules for a burrow
It's a work in progress. I've been too easy to hurt.
